K-12 Educators Center for Inquiry Science (CIS)
The SEN pilot included 16 science teachers representing elementary, middle and high schools from 14 regional school districts. The 16 teachers involved in the SEN pilot represented school districts of highly diverse student populations – 10 of the 16 SEN pilot participants represented school districts with a higher percent of minority students than the statewide student population, and 11 of the participants represent school districts in which 30 percent or more of the student population participate in the Washington State Free and Reduced Lunch program. The 2006 pilot resulted in additional funding from the WA State Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction.
